How I Work

My first priority as a therapist is always to form a warm, caring relationship with a person, in which they feel safe and comfortable to be completely themselves.  I believe that when that kind of a relationship is present, the best way of helping a person to move past their difficulties and achieve their goals emerges naturally and in a collaborative way.  For some people that might involve looking at the past, for others it might be more helpful to focus on the present and future; we might primarily focus on emotions, or more on thinking patterns.  Each individual is unique, and I enjoy finding the way of working which is best suited to the person.

Areas of Specialisation

I am particularly interested in exploring issues around identity and belonging, relationships and connection, shame and fulfilment, and loss and growth.  If that sounds very broad that’s because I am fascinated by human nature and life in general, and I believe many of the challenges we face are universal.  From my experience as a therapist working with clients who are neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ (and also being a gay man), I am particularly inspired by helping people to overcome shame and to find authentic connection.  I also have experience of working with common issues such as depression, general anxiety and social anxiety.  I look forward to meeting you and helping you to move towards a more fulfilling and authentic life.
