Accessible Online Therapy

Rainbow Minds

There are times when something in life asks for attention. Not always a crisis. Sometimes just a sense that things are not quite sitting right. Or that something has been carried for a long time, quietly. This space is here for that.

About the Service

We offer a reduced-fee online therapy service for people who want to begin therapy but may not be in a position to access full-fee sessions. Over the past few years, this work has quietly supported hundreds of people across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. In reality, it has been thousands of sessions, adding up to over 5,000 hours of therapeutic work, held week by week. The focus of the service reflects the wider work of Rainbow Minds, particularly working with LGBTQ+ clients and neurodivergence. Many of the people who come to this service are looking for therapy that already understands the ground they walk on.

Who Provides the Therapy

The work is offered by therapists in the later stages of their training, working within a structured clinical placement at Rainbow Minds. They are not working alone. All placements are under the clinical guidance of James Byrne, Clinical Lead, Psychotherapist, and Clinical Supervisor. Trainees also have their own personal supervisors and the support of their training institutions. Trainees receive additional training in working with LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent clients, and many bring their own lived experience into the room. For some, this placement is a starting point. A number have gone on to continue working with Rainbow Minds once qualified.

How It Works

Sessions take place online, usually weekly or fortnightly, and last fifty minutes. You will meet with the same therapist each time, and over time, a working relationship begins to form. There is no set agenda. Just a space to bring what is there.

Cost

Sessions are offered at €35. A small number of further-reduced places are available for those whose circumstances genuinely make this fee out of reach. These are limited and not always available, but it is worth asking if you need to.

A Few Important Things to Know

Your therapist will be a trainee on placement. They are still in training, and part of that learning includes reflecting on their work in supervision. At times, aspects of your work may be spoken about in that space, always confidentially and with care. This is a considered service, but it is not the right fit for everything. If what you are bringing needs something different from this kind of supported placement work, we will be honest about that and help you think about other options.

If You Are Looking for Something Different

This is one of the services Rainbow Minds offers, but not the only one. If you are looking for therapy with a fully qualified, accredited therapist, our standard service may be the better fit.
